There are many days in our lives that deserve special celebrations, like birthdays, reunions with friends, even a first date, or a simple solo date to treat yourself after a long week. These are nights that require a special ambience, good vibes and amazing food.
Welcome to this week's post on Live Life on a Budget, I would be introducing us to 3 fabulous restaurants to visit while in London and within a budget.
1. Roti King.
This is a Malaysian and Singaporean Street food Joint, If you are open to trying Malaysian and Singaporean comfort food, then this is the place for you. Roti King is revered in south London as a restaurant with great prices and good portion size.
Meals to Try:
- You should try their Mee Goreng Mamak- a super hearty and filling Egg noodle meal with chicken prawns and tofu.
I am a sucker for noodle soup and beef, so the Kari Laksa, an egg noodles in a coconut curry broth with seafood and chicken is definitely my go to Singaporean comfort food.
- The flakey Roti Canai with the warming chicken curry comes highly recommended
- The Murtabak isn’t to be missed and the Char kwa tweoy is a must order as well!
- And you can’t leave without trying the Milo iced chocolate!

Bancone is a an Italian Pasta House that was founded in 2018 at the now flagship site in Covent Garden, followed in 2019 with its second incarnation in Golden Square, Soho and more recently this year a third restaurant in Borough Yards, London Bridge.
They focus on hand-made pasta, inspired by Italy, London and much of Europe.
The Meals to try:
- The roasted tomato, Stracciatella, Tagliatelle as seen above.
-Spicy pork & nduja ragù, mafalde as seen below
They also have a fine collection of wines that complement the food menu in variety and quality, championing lesser known vineyards and growers alongside some big hitters.

Nem Nem is a traditional Vietnamese restaurant based in London. It was established in 2015. This is a revered Vietnamese joint, if you are a Dora the Explorer for food like I am, then this should be on your Hit-list as well. I am a sucker for Shredded beef and noodles, so I am very eager to give this place a chance.

- Chicken Lemongrass, this is a meal of Wok fried chicken breasts with chili and lemongrass as seen above.
- Marbeled Shaking Beef, a meal of Tender cubes of rib-eye steak, garlic onions and soy sauce.
- Nem Nem Peppered Duck, a meal of crispy duck breast, topped with soured and peppered sauce.
